Scamorza Cheese

Scamorza cheese is a traditional Italian cow’s milk cheese known for its semi-soft texture and mild, creamy flavor. Originating from Southern Italy, particularly in regions like Apulia and Calabria, Scamorza is often compared to mozzarella but is firmer and has a more pronounced taste due to its aging process. The cheese is typically pear-shaped, a result of its unique production method where it is tied with a string and hung to dry.

Scamorza is available in two varieties: plain white (bianca) and smoked (affumicata), with the latter having a distinctive, slightly smoky aroma. It melts beautifully, making it an excellent choice for pizzas, sandwiches, and baked dishes. Scamorza’s versatility and rich flavor profile have made it a beloved ingredient in both traditional and modern Italian cooking, appreciated for its ability to enhance a wide range of recipes.
